EBENEZER--Concerned residents of Ebenezer are calling on parents, school administrators and the relevant authorities to pay closer attention to groups of high school students reportedly gathering to smoke marijuana in the vicinity of GEBE and TelEm facilities in the district before the start of the school day.

According to residents familiar with the situation, students from different high schools have been gathering in areas between GEBE buildings, particularly behind the TelEm warehouse and near GEBE's meter facilities, where they allegedly engage in marijuana use before heading to school.

The concerns have prompted calls for greater parental awareness and supervision, particularly during the early morning hours when students are expected to be making their way directly to school.

Residents believe the situation warrants attention not only because of the reported marijuana use, but also because of the potential risks associated with students gathering in relatively secluded areas before classes begin.

They are urging parents to become more observant of their children's morning routines, including when they leave home, how they travel to school and whether they arrive at school at the expected time.

While residents are calling for greater vigilance from the authorities, they believe parents have an especially important role to play in addressing the situation before it develops into a more serious problem.

One parent says the appeal is not intended to label or condemn young people, but rather to draw attention to behavior that residents believe requires early intervention, guidance and responsible adult involvement.

Residents hope that bringing the matter to public attention will encourage parents to have conversations with their children about substance use, peer influence and the importance of making responsible choices.
