GREAT BAY--NV GEBE will close all of its offices to the public at 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 10, as the utility company begins an important system upgrade aimed at improving its internal operations and overall customer experience. Offices will reopen Friday, September 11, at 7:45 a.m.
During the transition, GEBE will continue assisting customers, but some transactions will be handled manually and could take longer than usual. Customers will still be able to make in-person payments at available cashier locations using cash, debit card or credit card.
The company is encouraging customers to make sure a valid email address is registered on their account. Customers who do not currently have an email address in GEBE's system should provide one, as the upgraded system will increasingly use electronic delivery for important documents, including payment receipts, account information and certain customer service documentation.

During the transition period, customers completing some transactions may receive temporary documents or account reference numbers. Once the upgraded system becomes fully operational and the information is entered, an official reference number will be generated.
GEBE is strongly encouraging customers to keep all receipts, temporary reference numbers and other documentation issued during the transition until their transactions have been fully processed.
Customers making cash payments while the manual process is in effect will receive a temporary cash receipt that will look different from GEBE's regular receipt. Once the upgraded system is operational, customers who received a temporary cash receipt should present it during their next visit to a GEBE office to obtain the official receipt.
Customers making online payments during the transition can continue to do so. Those payments will be processed once the upgraded system becomes operational, after which the official receipt will be sent to the email address registered on the customer's account. Customers are therefore advised to retain any temporary documentation until the payment has been fully processed and the official receipt received.
GEBE assured customers that their existing account information, balances, payment information and account history will be carried over as part of the system transition. Payments completed through the temporary manual process will also be uploaded once the new system is running.
The company cautioned that some processes and services may temporarily look or operate differently while employees adjust to the upgraded system. Certain transactions may also require additional processing time during the transition.
GEBE thanked customers and the general public for their patience, cooperation and understanding while the upgrade is implemented, noting that the changes are intended to improve the overall customer experience.
