St. Maarten government unveils SXM Crisis Care Digital Platform

GREAT BAY--The Division of Labor Affairs & Social Services, under the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development & Labor (VSA), today announced the upcoming stakeholder engagement session for SXM Crisis Care, a groundbreaking digital initiative designed to unify how crisis and social services are coordinated and delivered across the island.

SXM Crisis Care is a first-of-its-kind platform connecting NGOs, government agencies, and residents on a single, coordinated system — one built to close the gaps that too often slow down help when people need it most. From crisis reporting to real-time case coordination to a 24/7 support hotline and downloadable self-care resources, the platform is designed to bring transparency, speed, and accountability to the island's social safety net.

The official stakeholder engagement session will take place:

• Date: Wednesday, September 30
• Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
• Location: Government Administration Building, Room 1

The evening will feature a live demonstration of the SXM Crisis Care app and website. Community and NGO partners will have the opportunity to experience the platform firsthand and provide direct feedback that will help shape its development ahead of launch.

Speaking on the initiative, drs. Peggy-Ann Richardson, Division Head of Labor Affairs & Social Services, shared her enthusiasm for what this platform means for the community:

SXM Crisis Care puts our NGOs, Community Councils, our government agencies, and our residents on one connected system, working together in real time instead of in silos. This is coordinated care built for our people, by our people — and I invite every stakeholder to come see it, shape it, and champion it with us.”

The Division views this platform as a critical step forward in modernizing social service delivery on the island, strengthening the partnership between government and community organizations, and ensuring that vulnerable residents receive faster, more reliable support in moments of crisis.

Community organizations, NGOs, and social service partners are strongly encouraged to attend and contribute their perspective as the platform moves toward full implementation.
