GREAT BAY--The Windward Islands Bank has rescheduled its “Walking into the Future, Building Progress” Walk-a-Thon for Sunday, September 27, with participants set to gather at the WIB Bush Road Digital Branch for an early morning community walk focused on health, wellness and togetherness.

The event was previously postponed due to heavy rainfall and a flood advisory affecting St. Maarten. WIB said the safety and well-being of participants, volunteers and partners remained the priority in making the decision to postpone.

The morning will begin with a warm-up session at 5:30 a.m., followed by the Walk-a-Thon at 6:00 a.m. Participants of all ages are encouraged to attend with family and friends.

The walk will begin and end at the WIB Bush Road Digital Branch. The route will take participants through Church Hill Roundabout, A.J.C. Brouwers Road, Welgelegen Road, Little Bay Roundabout, Octavius L. Richardson Road, Little Bay Road, Front Street, the Boardwalk, Cyrus Wathey Square, Hendrikstraat, Gevangenisstraat, C.A. Cannegieter Street, D.A. Peterson Street, the WIB Main Branch, Salt Pickers Roundabout, Walter A. Nisbeth Road, Prince Bernhard Bridge and Bush Road before returning to the starting point.

WIB said the event is intended to create an encouraging atmosphere centered on movement, community spirit and positive engagement.

Transportation assistance will also be available for participants who are unable to complete the full route. A bus will be stationed at the WIB Main Branch to transport participants back to the Bush Road Digital Branch.

Participants are being encouraged to wear a white shirt for the walk. WIB said white was selected to represent unity, positivity and a fresh start, reflecting the event’s theme and the shared goal of moving toward a healthier and stronger community.

Members of the public who wish to participate are required to register in advance through WIB’s walkathon registration page: https://www.wib-bank.net/walkathon

WIB said the Walk-a-Thon reflects its belief that progress extends beyond banking and includes supporting initiatives that promote healthier lifestyles, stronger communities and meaningful connections among the people of St. Maarten.

The bank is inviting residents to come out, bring family and friends, and take part in the morning together.
